I Wanna Be You (Ed Cole) when I think of you I see someone directed and pure not dragged down by material living when I think of you I don’t see someone helpless whose life is a mess like mine when I turn the corner I wanna be you when I grow up I wanna be you when I”m done flailing I wanna be you, I wanna be you when I look around at the sea of blank faces and empty hearts that have never known love I look at you and I’m blinded by what I see no one carries you you carry yourself and you do it gracefully when I turn the corner I wanna be you when I pass a windowI wanna be you when I look in the mirror I wanna be you, I wanna be you

CARP KING Hey hey carp king what do you know Where does a walkin’ fish, a walkin’ fish go Here comes the carp king, the carp king is low Where does a walkin’ fish, a walkin’ fish go Under the trestle, the train overhead The carp king is sleeping, the cattails do glow Hey hey carp king, let’s not pretend We’re not muck dwelling, weird-smelling lords of the dam Hey hey carp king How do you roll Don’t head out to sea You got backwater soul With a hook in your lip, a scar and a slit You’re not some koi in the foyer of a restaurant half-lit Give me the night, give me a hit we’ll drive out to the edge of town and set fire to it Hey bony old ghost, how do you do a thousand years old with stories untold I dreamed you were a princess, with a blazing silver sword Watching over the put upon, the lonely and bored Hey hey carp king How do you roll Don’t head out to sea You got backwater soul Where does a walkin’ fish a walkin’ fish go Somewhat tentative sometimes takin’ it slow Where does a walkin’ fish a walkin’ fish go Somewhat tentative sometimes takin’ it slow Hey hey carp king what do you know Where does a walkin’ fish, a walkin’ fish go Here comes the carp king, the carp king is low Where does a walkin’ fish, a walkin’ fish go Under the trestle, the train overhead The carp king is sleeping, the cattails do glow Hey hey carp king, let’s not pretend We’re not muck dwelling, weird-smelling lords of the dam

The Rhythm And The Rhyme The exclamation, the incantation, the rhythm and the rhyme. Where is the song in these broken words of mine? Some ancient function calls then stalls, talk too much then don’t talk at all little by little, you wander and wiggle into something you can pass along bug trail scratchin’ on the ground makin’ kinda funny sounds it’s a dusty manuscript bust your lip on what is hip have you ever studied poems in school, distracted by your sexual thoughts where is the song in quiet longing as the afternoon grows hot daydreaming on a trestle track with a cup of coffee and your old backback Little by little the drizzle will sizzle and burn burn burn the sword it gleams on battle field the personal is epic in your sketchpad notebook shield in the attic room where you lay your head like a star in a cloudy sky and all the hours sing please don’t be shy all the hours sing please don’t be shy

Frog In A Pail Cicada Cicada and a cage of tomatoes a preposterous cranberry moon how did we end up in a world that’s so lusciou a world we could eat with a spoon? Creator, Creator and a patch of potatoes are you a boy or a girl? How did the pea get out of the pod Im just a clod on the nod in the field Where was I going with the story I started about the beauty I see in the world I’ll roll in the dirt, it’s a new kind of church I’ll sing like a frog in a pail Creator creator, I’m always waiting just a little more rain and I’ll float outta here how did the sun give birth to the one My girl’s a star, in a car, at the wheel Hold us good spirit, we can’t always feel it especially in these ugly times I know now that kindness and courage will win but it’s hard to be worldly about it Creator, creator up early or later just a little more rain and we’lll float outta here Creator creator a birthday belated for the song that we hear in the trees overhead just talk among friends the stars and the wind Tornado, tornado and a blue alligator a mile high sweet sugary dune how did we end up in a world that’s so luscious a world you could eat with a spoon

Went down to the river and the river was high what’s the point of even tryin’ to throw in a line? The sun was going backwards it was dinosaur time A pteradactyl flew over me Went down to the river and the river was low what’s the point of putin in the boat and the oar no where to get to, no where to go The sun dripped like a tangerine I chucked in some stones, I was not alone everything was speaking to me I thought of Aunt Shirley who left way too early and then the water started to sing Went down to the river And the river was wide I could feel it pulling on the moon and the tide All the little pebblesHad been baptized What a way to let it ride the snakes along the bank told me to sing for you told me to sing for you, so that’s what I’m gonna do I got some chigger bites, I got a sunburn too ` Went down the river and the river was moving by

about

In 2020 we didn't get to play out much, so we hunkered down and worked up a double album's worth of new tunes.

It was a yearlong weekly woodshed-workshop resilience practice that culminated with a live-streamed show on 11/13 at KCMO's recordBAR.

While we'd prefer to release this on LP, the spirit of the release is SERVE WITHOUT DELAY. Let it go. Get it out there.

So we'll greet you and 2021 with this imperfectly perfect blast of power trio post punk rock and roll, and go from there.

Sound good?

THANK YOU recordBAR, Paul Malinowski, Jay Lindhorst, and all of our supportive family, fans, and friends.
